CUTS WATER BILLS AND MOWING AS MUCH AS 2/3
Would you believe a lawn could be perfect when
watered just once? In Iowa, the state’s biggest
Men’s Garden club picked a zoysia lawn as “top
lawn – nearly perfect.” Yet, this lawn had been
watered only once all summer to August!
In PA, Mrs. M.R. Mitter wrote “I’ve never
watered it, only when I put the plugs in…Last
summer we had it mowed 2 times…When everybody’s
lawns here are brown from drought, ours
stays as green as ever.” That’s how zoysia lawns
cut water bills and mowing! Now read on!

ENDS RE-SEEDING
NEVER NEEDS REPLACEMENT

Plug in our zoysia grass and you’ll never have to
spend money on grass seed again! Since you
won’t be buying seeds, you won’t need to dig and
rake – then hope the seeds take root before birds
eat them or the next hard rain washes them away

NO NEED TO DIG UP OLD GRASS

Plug in our zoysia grass and you’ll never have to
whatever. Set 1” square plugs into holes in the soil
1 foot apart, checkerboard style. Plugs spread to
drive out old, unwanted growth, weeds included.
Easy instructions with your order. If you can put
a cork into a bottle, you can plug in Amazoy.

FOR SLOPES, PLAY AREAS AND BARE SPOTS

You can’t beat Amazoy as the low cost answer for
hard-to-cover spots, play-worn areas, or to end
erosion on slopes.

IT STAYS GREEN IN SPITE OF HEAT AND DROUGHT

“The hotter it gets, the better it grows!” Plug-in
zoysia thrives in blistering heat, yet it won’t
winter kill to 30˚ below zero. It just goes off its
green color after killing frosts, begins regaining
its green color as temps. in the spring are consistently
warm. Of course, this varies with climate.

CHOKES OUT CRABGRASS AND WEEDS ALL SUMMER

Your established Amazoy lawn grows so
thick, it simply stops crabgrass and summer
weeds from germinating!

NO NEED TO SPEND MONEY ON DANGEROUS CHEMICALS

Every Plug GUARANTEED TO GROW
IN YOUR SOIL No Ifs, Ands Or Buts!
Read a guarantee no grass seed can match!
Won’t Winter Kill. Amazoy has survived
temperatures to 30° below zero!
Won’t Heat Kill. When other grasses burn out
in summer drought and heat, Amazoy remains
luxuriously green.
Any plug failing to grow in 45 days will be
replaced FREE! To insure maximum freshness and
viability, plugs are shipped not cut all the way
through. Before planting, finish the separation with
shears or knife. Our guarantee and planting method
are your assurance of lawn success backed by more
than five decades of specialized lawn experience!

Raising Chickens

Are you worried about the problems with our food system? It is scary how so much of our food is being recalled for poisons or contamination. One of the ways many people are handling the recent crisis is by Raising Chickens.

It can be both fun and healthy to raise chickens. The result is a bountiful harvest of some the best tasting eggs you could ever imagine. If you choose to, you can also learn to butcher the chickens to provide your family with chicken like nothing you have ever tasted before.

It is easy to raise chickens. You just need to keep them healthy by providing a safe place for the chickens to live. The Chicken Coop does not have to be fancy. You just to make sure it has plenty of room, safe from predators, and it protects them from the elements.

You also need to provide quality feed and interact with the chickens. This will not only make raising chickens easy, it will provide lots of fun for you and your family. There is no more joy than watching a chicken doing crazy things out in the yard. The added benefit is that you know where your family is getting healthy safe food to eat.

Exercise – It’s all about YOU!

Posted in Health with tags , , , on May 25, 2008 by winningsites
There are many reasons why exercise is good for you. The first is that good levels of fitness (and health) ensure that the major organs in the body function at their very best. Unfortunately maintaining the resolve to continue with exercise (or lose weight) can be very difficult.

There have been many studies carried out which state that at least half the people who begin an exercise programme give up within the first 3 months. This figure increases dramatically when taken over a 12 month period. Even though most people know that exercise is very good for them many people don’t even start any kind of exercise programme at all. Some of these people will never have done any form of exercise at all during their lives.

Let’s look at some of the points that will help you maintain a fitness programme

What will help me stick with an exercise plan?

Most reasons are probably much more psychological than sociological.

1. You must be fully aware and believe that exercise is good for your health
2. You must be fully aware of your own athletic capabilities.
3. You must be fully aware that you are responsible for your own life and what occurs in it.
4. You must be fully committed to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
5. You must view exercise as a means of relaxation

Note that all of the five points above begin with the same word ‘YOU’. This is very important to remember because whatever you read or whatever anyone tells you, ultimately the doing part is your responsibility. By confirming to the points above you will know that you should begin a fitness programme. The following suggestions should be considered if you want to remain committed to a training plan and more importantly…enjoy it.

Ideas to help you stick with your plan

Set yourself both short and long term targets

Setting both short and long term goals will keep you motivated throughout and always give
you something else to aim at.
Write down your expectations and goals – use a chart or diary for this.
Your plan doesn’t have to be complicated –just realistic.
Make a note of what you want to achieve and how you want to do it.
Most importantly make your goals attainable – if it is not you will soon lose your
motivation.Start off with easy goals, so that you know that you will achieve them. There
would be nothing worse than setting your initial targets too high only to fail at the first one

Make a list of the benefits

Think about the positives of maintaining your exercise plan.
Make a list of your expectations if you stay committed to your programme.
If at any time you feel negative about your plan think of the positive points and how you will
feel if you achieve your goals

Think about the negatives but not for long

Think about the negative results if you don’t stick with your fitness plan.
Write down the consequences and feelings of not maintaining your plan
Make a list of all things you will miss out on if you don’t maintain your fitness plan

Change your lifestyle

Think about and remove all of the bad habits that you have acquired during your life.
Make your fitness important in your life especially ensure that it is more important than
your bad habits.
Improving and maintaining your good habits will simply become part of your lifestyle.
Don’t make any excuses to prevent you from maintaining your plan. Especially at the
beginning of the schedule. You will find it much easier to maintain the fitness plan once you
get into it and begin to feel more comfortable with it.

Ask your family and friends for support

It can be very difficult to find and maintain the commitment to exercise without the support
of your family and friends.
Discuss your goals and plans with them and ask for there help.
It is far easier to exercise with someone else than it is alone.

You will notice that the word ‘you’ is emboldened throughout these suggestions. This is because if you begin and maintain your exercise programme it is because you will have done it. If you fail to maintain your plan then it will be because you failed. It is as simple as that. You might come up with all kinds of excuses to yourself not to continue but you will know that the one and only reason for failure is because you didn’t do what you were supposed to do.

Take control of your life now …….
….. and see what you can achieve

Mortlake, London – Industrial History

Posted in General aricles! with tags , , on May 25, 2008 by winningsites
A survey of 1617 makes no mention of any kind of industry in Mortlake, but in the period from 1619 to 1800, a few small businesses were founded close to the river on the north side of the High Street. All but one were destined to be relatively short-lived, but the earliest known, the Mortlake Tapestry Works served to set the scene for the future industrial nature of the Mortlake riverside. The tapestry works was soon joined by a sugarhouse and by 1703, there were malt houses, which were later followed by two small potteries and two small breweries during that century. Of all these activities, only brewing has survived.

MORTLAKE TAPESTRY WORKS
Mortlake’s most illustrious industry, the Tapestry Works, was established in 1619 under the patronage of James 1st. Henry IV of France had started a similar venture in Paris in 1607 and there can be little doubt that it’s success impressed the Stuart court. There were two factors that made Mortlake justifiable: it’s site by the river ensured a degree of humidity essential in weaving in order to relax the tension on the warp, whilst the river itself provided a satisfactory means of transporting the bulky products.
The site of the tapestry works, now a pleasant open space overlooking the river, is marked by an inscribed granite memorial which was unveiled in 1996. The true memorial to the weavers, however, are the Mortlake tapestries themselves which have survived to grace the walls of palaces, castles, stately homes, museums and private collections throughout the world.
In recent years, a local public house was re-branded as “The Tapestry”, a play perhaps on both local history and it’s Spanish themed (Tapas) menu.

SUGAR BOILING AND MALTING
Sugar refining on the Mortlake riverside was carried on in 1688 by William Mucklow, a Quaker at premises between the river and the High Street to the east of Bull’s Alley. By 1729 it was in the hands of John Bentley, the last known sugar refiner in Mortlake, but around thirteen years later the sugarhouse was no longer in use and the building became the first Mortlake Pottery. Malting was a thriving local industry from the seventeenth until well into the nineteenth century. Together with Nine Elms and Wandsworth, Mortlake was one of the main centres supplying vast quantities of malted grains to the many breweries situated in and around London. In 1811 there were five malt houses and Leigh’s Panorama of the Thames shows the Mortlake riverside fairly bristling with malt house cones in 1829. In Barnes a malt house fronted onto the Terrace with its rear on Back Lane, the surviving section of which was renamed Malthouse Passage in 1890.

THE SANDERS’ POTTERY
It is not known why John Sanders, a Lambeth potter, chose Mortlake to start a new manufactory c.1743, but perhaps he became aware of the suitability of the site of the disused sugar house: potteries needed substantial volumes of clay for the pots and coal for the kilns -both were heavy and unavailable locally, so that waterborne transport was a basic need. John Sanders remained active at Lambeth until his death in 1758 and it seems likely that his intention was to have his son William run the Mortlake venture; indeed this is what William did for the next 32 years, and after his death in 1784 the pottery was continued by his son John until 1794. Thereafter the pottery had various owners, but after April 1823 it is listed as empty.
Despite 78 years of production, Sanders did not mark his wares and anything that survives is, therefore, concealed within the large mass of similar London tin-glazes pottery sometimes, and misleadingly, called Delft ware.

KISHEREWARE
The second Mortlake Pottery was begun by Joseph Kishere, himself once a worker at the Sanders factory and son of Benjamin Kishere, who was overseer forSanders. Around 1800, Joseph married a Miss Griffin and, Tto quote a local historian, “had a little money by her” which together with a win on the state lottery enabled him to begin his own business.
Kishere pottery has been described as amoung the most decorative of the London stonewares. It is a tough, durable pottery with a high survival rate, and by good fortune a great deal of it is marked. Marking is often in the form ‘Kishere Pottery Moatlake Surrey’, the mis-spelling of Mortlake more common than not.

Aloe vera heals the body and mind

Here are two testimonials about people who have used Aloeride.

“Around 5 years ago my belly started to become swollen during the day, my clothes bound and became uncomfortable. Eight months ago I discovered I had diarrhoea and with astringent belly pain. “ But after taking Aloeride for just two weeks I noticed a difference. The affliction got chock-full and my belly’s now back in shape. I still experience some casual bloating but all added affections are gone.”

An accountant took two capsules every day for an anniversary flight to Cyprus, and took two a day during his holiday. He said, “Normally I would use an actual high-factor sun cream, and even so I would feel austere in the evening. “This time I put on sun chrism and didn’t bake at all — even on the hottest days. In the evenings I had a advantageous glow and felt great. Afterwards returning to the UK, I kept my colour and I got loads of complements from my fellow coworkers. I’ll absolutely use Aloeride if I go travelling again.”
Whole-leaf aloe vera processing treats aloe substances indiscriminately and people accept this is the best they can buy. Aloeride delivers added than the alive ingredients. Keeping Google happy – Site Ranking

Posted in Webmaster and SEO with tags , , , , , , on May 24, 2008 by winningsites
There have been many articles written about Google ranking and how to obtain the highest possible site rank. Well I am not going to expand on these articles but what I will discus here is how you can stay with the unofficial Google rules and guidelines to ensure that your site is at least eligible for a site rank.

Outside of your immediate control;

The length of time that your site has been registered is very important to Google. They consider a site over one year old to be much more stable, legitimate and serious than a web site that is under one year old. Most Spam or illegal type sites operate in the short term, certainly under 12 months. Google treats spam type sites very seriously and will ban them not only from site rank but also from their search engines.

Under your control

It is known by everyone that has had a web site for a while that Google’s calculations of a sites popularity is based strongly on the number of relevant inbound links pointing at the site. The word ‘relevant’ is very important as it I very easy nowadays to buy thousands of links very cheaply and have them all point to your site. If the links are not relevant however Google will treat them as spam or purchased links. You should also consider that when you but links in this way your statistics will show a sudden surge in links that don’t appear natural. Google will detect these and treat your site rank accordingly.

Slow relevant build up of links is the best way forward. Don’t be in a race to obtain links. If you have a good site and have decent content visitors will like your site and visit regularly and often. You will find that once you build a steady stream of visitors to your site, other sites will be only to pleased to link to you.

There is nothing wrong in exchanging the odd link with other relevant sites, but again don’t overdo it-moderation is the key.
There are some positive steps you can take to obtain decent links to your site, and one of them is;

Content links

If you are capable of writing a couple of paragraphs about the same or similar subject of you site content then you can submit this content to either article sites or other sites that accept articles. The key to making this work for you is to place one link per paragraph back to you site. You would do this by selecting word that is meaningful to you site and creating a link to you site from it.

As an example supposing your site is about gardening. You could write an article about gardening and use the word ‘garden’ in one of the paragraphs. You would then select the word ‘garden’ and create a link from it to your website. There will be a few ways to create the hyperlink depending on where you are posting your article. In most cases it is usually very. This is known as a content link.

Google treats content links well as they appear to be relevant to your site. Again don’t go overboard and don’t send the same article to different sites.

One final word about content links, always ensure they are relevant to your site content and vary the word you use for the ‘anchor, link to your site. In the gardening example given above you could use garden, flower, growing, nature. Anchor links don’t have to be a single word either. In fact you will usually attain higher search engine rating if you use a couple or more words.

Example; rose garden, garden centre, lawn seeds ….

If you feel you have more useful information on this subject then please post your comments

Bad News …… Good News !

Posted in celebs with tags , , , , , , on May 24, 2008 by winningsites
Been there, done it, read the book, bought the T shirt…Amy Winehouse arrested again (and again and again)

I don’t know how you feel but aren’t Amy Winehouse arrest stories becoming more amd more regular and dare I say it …..boring !

Apparently she was arrested again and interviewed at a London Police station regarding possession of drugs. This follows a police caution two weeks ago after she slapped a man during a row.

I am not going to discuss the in and outs of drugs, assault, celebrity or misuse of celebrity because it really is a never ending story. Amy Winehouse will soon be yesterdays newspapers and todays fish and chip paper and some other celebrity will take her place.

Instead of following the trend of most blogs (and certainly newspapers and news shows) in publicising bad news I am going to start a campaign here to look for and publish good news. You know the stories about celebrities that give up their time to help youngsters, Mrs Smith, down the road, who does the shopping every week for her elderly neighbours, politicians that actually listen to people and do something about their concerns.

There must be so much good news out there but it just doesn’t get the publicity it deserves. Well let’s give some headline space to good behaviour and lets not give the time of day to bad behaviour.

Please add comments to this blog of any such good behaviour you come across and if suitable I will write a new article about it and between us we can publicise it to the world (well at least our tiny part of it)

So get searching for those positive news stories and let us make our space on the web a good place to be.
